CESASC 45th Convention and Technical Symposium

PUAASC is pleased to work with Chinese-American Engineers and Scientists Association of Southern California (CESASC) for its 45th Convention and Technical Symposium on Apr 14. Dear Members and Friends of CESASC:

 

On April 14, 2007 at Hilton Los Angeles Airport, Chinese-American Engineers and Scientists Association of Southern California (CESASC) will hold its 45th anniversary event. The whole day event includes a luncheon, a Technical Symposium, and a Convention dinner banquet. President George W. Bush wrote a letter congratulating CESASC for "reaching this important milestone". "I appreciate CESASC for your commitment to continuing America's legacy of progress. Your efforts contribute to the brighter future and embody the spirit of American innovation." President Bush wrote.

 

CESASC will recognize three distinguished Chinese-Americans engineers and scientists who have made significant contributions and achievements to major US industries and world science and technology advances. All three of them will speak at different time of the event:

 

11:45 am (approx.): Ms. Heidi Shyu, Corporate Vice President of Technology & Research, Raytheon Company. Her keynote speech at the Luncheon is: "Leadership for the 21st Century."

 

12:55 am (approx.): Dr. Xiaodong Wang, Member of National Academy of Sciences, Investigator of Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and Professor of University of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center. His keynote speech at the Technical Symposium is: "Saving Lives by Understanding Death."

 

7:30 pm (approx.): Mr. John J. Sie, Founder and Chairman, Starz Entertainment. His keynote speech at the Convention dinner banquet is: "Evolution of an Electrical Engineer over a Half Century."

 

Other speakers in the afternoon include scientists from UCLA, USC, Hunan University and Soochow University, and senior managers and engineers from URS Corp., Calstart, Google, and Aerospace Corp. A variety of topics will be covered:

 

Technical topics: cancer research, renewable energy, modern architecture, digital media, wireless technology, and RFID.

 

Non-technical topics: health maintenance, humor, and poker game techniques.

The Luncheon ticket is $20 (or $10 for students and those attending dinner banquet). Seminars are free. The Convention dinner banquet ticket is $60. You may sign up and pay online with your Paypal or credit card at http://www.cesasc.org/

 

The venue is Hilton Los Angeles Airport at 5711 W. Century Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90045. The self-parking is $8 (when you mention CESASC). CESASC will pay for your parking if you meet the following conditions:

1) You are a CESASC Life Member, Regular Member, or Student Member in good standing. Or you are a member of the CESASC Yahoo Group (please sign up by sending an empty email to CESASC-subscribe@yahoogroups.com).
