On December 3rd 2006 the Peking University table tennis team will play a world-class friendship match against an all-star team of the top Los Angeles area players in the Westside Table Tennis Club. This event is co-hosted by the Peking University Alumni Association of Southern California (PUAASC) and the Westside Table Tennis Club located in the west Los Angeles.
The Peking University Team would like to raise the awareness and raise fund for the 2008 Olympic Table Tennis competition hosted at its campus. Led by the Peking University Vice-president Ms. Yue Sulan and coached by former World Champions Liu Wei and Liang Geliang, the Peking University team comprises world class players, including some former members of the World Champion Chinese National Team.
The Los Angeles All-Star Team will also include former members of the US National Team, coached by former US Champion Wei Wang.
In addition to the friendship match between the two teams, the former world champion Mr. Liang Geliang will play an exhibition game with Mr. Jack Howard, a member of the 1971 US Team that went to China on the famous ping pong diplomacy trip, to commemorate the historic event.
After all games are over, the ping-pong fans in the audience will also have chances to play a few points with the visiting Peking University players for fun. Since the admission to this game is free and the space in the club is limited, we requested people to register online on the website of the PUAASC as quick as possible, so we can make sure the space will not be overflowed.
