Chinese Association of Science and Technology California Chapter
at Los Angeles (CAST-LA) proudly kicks off the CAST-LA SIT Series
on May 4 Saturday, 2002.
Seminar on Information Technology (SIT) is a monthly regular event
instituted by CAST-LA that intends to provide its members in IT fields
and members in general with a forum for information sharing and
exchange, knowledge integration and complementation, technology
transfer and application, as well as career support and development.
The basic format consists of a one-hour talk, followed by half an hour
free discussion, and wrapped up with one hour or so social time.
The first SIT is featured a talk on Web Service by Dr. Hanz (Hanzhong)
Zhang from Sharp Labs.
Talk Title: Web Service and its Incarnation in .NET Technology
Speaker: Dr. Hanz (Hanzhong) Zhang, Sharp Labs
Date and Time: 2-5pm May 4 (Saturday), 2002
Location: UCLA Life Science Building Room 2147
Admission: Free of charge this time
Please RSVP to info@cast-la.org or contact Yutao He at
yutao@cs.ucla.edu for further information.
Abstract:
Web service is an emerging technology that has been hailed
as the revolution in the world of distributed computing.
Is it yet another hype that will soon go away, or a real
enabler that will dictate the way for building future distributed
applications? This talk intends to provide both a "big-picture"
perspective to this new paradigm in general (XML, SOAP, WSDL,
and UDDI) and a "under-the-hood" glimpses of its implementation
with Microsoft's .NET technology.
Biography:
Dr. Zhang received BS from Huazhong University of Science and
Technology, MS from Beijing University of Aeronautics and
Astronautics, and Ph.D from University of Rhode Island.
He is currently working in the area of Digital Imaging System
with Sharp. Previously he worked with Countrywide in the field of
Artificial Intelligence and with TSI in the field of computer
automation and control of mechanical systems.
Hanz has extensive experience in the software development process
such as programming, debugging, testing, globalization, localization
and releasing. His favorite language used to be Visual C++. But he
is switching to C#. He has also programmed with Visual Basic and C
but has forgotten all the FORTRAN key words he learned when he was
developing CFD simulation of air flow around airplanes in the old
good days.
Hanz is just about to dive into the world of .Net. He went to
the Guerrila .Net workshop in January and is very eager to share
with you what he has learned.
