  • Dr. Bo Qiao

Hi everybody, my name is Bo Qiao. I came to America in December 1994, shortly after I earned a master degree in biochemistry from Beijing Medical University . I started my American life in University of Southern California (USC), where I spent eight years studying bone related diseases. Now I am working in University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). My current research focuses on liver damage after liver transplant. I love to talk to people and help people who are in need. Serving our Chinese community as well as helping our people to adapt and merge to American mainstream is my primary goal. My favorite sport is volleyball. I also like to taste different style of food and explore new places. With our goals in mind I strongly support Dr. Hongyu Zhang, Dr. Ximeng Wang and their teams in running for PUAASC president. I look forward to meeting you in our election party.

After graduation, I worked for three years at the Language Communications and Development Center affiliated with Beijing University. I was a project coordinator, a writer and translator until I was promoted to department manager. In 2000, I went to the University of Texas at Austin and obtained my Master's Degree in Statistics from the Math Department. After graduation, I moved to Chicago and worked for two years at Northwestern University Medical School as a statistician. In 2004, I moved to Los Angeles and started my Ph.D. program at USC.

On a personal level, I enjoy meeting and working with people, not with numbers. Teamwork and helping people are always fascinating to me. My energy for outdoor sporting activities has never ceased.

In conclusion, I believe that my various abilities can be of great value to PUAASC. I hope to have the opportunity to be of service to this outstanding organization and to assist the incoming President in furthering the goals of PUAASC.
